Deceased Vendors

Due to laws differing from state to state regarding handling a deceased’s income, these instructions provide the minimum requirements for eVoucher. The check can only be made out to the deceased vendor.  The executor of the estate or next of kin should ensure payment goes to the correct party.

Deceased Attorney

Instructions for Steps

Office Manager

  1. Notify the court of the attorney's death.

  2. Confirm the billing and address information in eVoucher are correct.

  3. Upload all documentation to each pending voucher on the Documents tab.

  4. Submit vouchers on behalf of the attorney.

Executor/Next of Kin

  1. Notify the court of the attorney's death.

  2. Determine the billing type chosen by the attorney (Self-Employed, Firm, Associate) entered in eVoucher. Contact the court if you need assistance making that determination.

IF the billing type was...

THEN...

Firm

the attorney had a preexisting agreement with a law firm.  Contact the law firm’s office manager to coordinate submission of the pending vouchers.  Provide documentation to the office manager.

Self-Employed

contact the court and proceed pursuant to the court’s local policy.

Associate

notify the appointed attorney of the death.  Contact the court to determine the method used to add the associate appointment to eVoucher.  Proceed according to the court’s instructions.

 

Deceased Service Provider

Appointed Attorney

  1. Notify the court.

  2. Confirm the billing and address information in eVoucher are correct.

  3. Direct the executor or next of kin to send the service provider's invoice to you for processing in eVoucher.

  4. Upload all documentation to each pending voucher on the Documents tab.

  5. Submit vouchers on behalf of the service provider.

Executor/Next of Kin

  1. Notify the court.

  2. Confirm the billing and address information in eVoucher are correct.

  3. Determine which attorneys were currently using the services of the deceased.

  4. Send the pending invoices, notification of death, and documentation to each attorney. The attorney will process the invoice through eVoucher.
